Heavy graphics and animation integration can be a challenging part of any workflow but with proper foresight and planning, it can be quite simple.

After Effects is notorious for not always cooperating with other software so we set out to create a workflow that would make this part of the process much easier. The answer to this was good old-fashioned excel sheets and timecodes, no fancy EDLs or XMLs. Proxies were made of the R3D footage with their proper dimensions for a lighter workload while working in AE. Once the finals composites were ready we then made an inventory of the used material in a spreadsheet and created a color timeline in Davinci Resolve that mirrored those exact frames needed in the composites.

From there we output the final media to be used in the final composites. After a few back and forth renders to perfect the color palettes and blending we had a final product.

This is probably the best ad for a desk you can possibly make! Does it make you want one?
