A Tune
In the evocative film "A Tune," directed by the visionary Benjamin Nicholas, our post-production team had the privilege of bringing to life a narrative that delicately balances auditory experiences with profound emotional journeys. Nicholas describes the film as "a film about listening and readjustment," where its structure mimics tuning a piano, yet contrasts with a character's struggle with loss, reflecting the complex process of dealing with grief.
Our role in post-production was comprehensive, handling everything from color grading to matte painting, and meticulous online work and compositing. Despite the depth of technical work, our goal was for the color grading to subtly support, not overshadow, the rich atmosphere crafted by Nicholas's storytelling. This approach ensured that the visual elements complemented the film's narrative flow and emotional depth, allowing the audience to engage fully with Arnie’s poignant story and the film’s unique structural rhythm.
Here is a quick synopsis:
"A Tune (/əˈt(y)o͞on/) is a film about listening and readjustment. Its non-sequential narrative form at once mirrors the way one tunes a piano (starting in the middle then alternating up/down) while standing in contrast to one character (Arnie's) inability to move beyond the passing of his wife, highlighting life's painful linearity; the medium's plasticity opposes Arnie's physical and emotional obstinance, reflecting my own process of dealing with loss."
The film is now available to watch directly on vimeo. Show him some love.
